Windows 7 x64 and Galaxy s i9000.

Turn off windows media player - Start - control panel - uninstall progs - turn off windows features.  Uncheck all related to WMP.

Uninstall Kies

Reinstall Kies

Connect phone - Not in debugging mode.

Select kies mode on the popup.

Good luck

I tried EVERYTHING to get Kies to recognize my Bell Vibrant GT-I9000M on my XP laptop (different versions of Kies, different drivers, unmount/format SD card, factory reset) to no avail.

Then I installed the latest Kies on my windows 7 desktop and it worked right away! What's the deal??? Anyways just a heads up that it might be computer software related and also that trying a different computer might work.

Now it's telling me a firmware update is available...here goes nothing....

Hello guyz.

one thing i'm agree with that this samsung kies is not fully mature like any other nokia and windows mobile sync.. I used to have no problems with previous phones.. but with this androids and kies.. It's killing me and wandering to figure out..

One solution is to tell samsung to make much better kies software!!! so this thing shouldn't be a problem.. and of course no lag galaxy... what the heck.. one gigz... still lag.. that was mind boggling...

second... for kies.. i downloaded 10083 i think it's more stable than the other.. still I used to have no problems in the first day.. but in the second and the rest.. in order to sync.. i have to uninstall and reinstall.. i think it's somehow definitely with the samsung driver!!! and of course kies itself!!

well for sync in outlook... it's pretty useless too after first successfull one.. the second and third well pratically i don't use it anymore.. well.. manually check one by one for my thousands contacts.. that is impossible..

conclusion.. koreans needs to address this issue asap... well.. if not many dissapointed fans will create havocs for their expensive high tech brick...

Hi.
I have tried alot of the tings mentioned here. None worked.
I came over another site that had a solution that worked for me.

Acording to the link bellow, files over 16 characters are the root of the problem.

I connected the phone in mass storrage mode, found files and folders that contained over 16 characters, deleted the files that were in the folder
android/cache, and renamed a savefile for a game I have installed.
reconnected the device in kies mode, recovered drivers, and it installed drivers really fast, and was detected in KIES.

I hope this works for more people.

Hi all,

At first many thanks to everybody for all contributions.

I am a happy user of the Continuum and as everybody victim of the the crazy Kies software.

Following your recommendations I  uninstalled, reinstalled, re-uninstalled the software, the drivers ...

Then it works for a couple of days and after no more  HUH?

When will Samsung provide a solution to have Kies working approximately for more than a few day?

For info I'm using a laptop and a desktop, both with Windows Seven Ultimate 64 bits, either English or French version with exactly the same symptoms.

Is it the price to pay for freedom  Sad

Except this I'm 100% satisfied with the phone  Big Smile

have you checked that you dont have any files over 16 characters on your phone?
Mine works perfectly after I removed files with too many characters.

Hmm
No guarantee that your problem is the same as mine.
But make sure there is no files at all on the internal sd card that has over 16 characters.
I had a savefile in the rootfolder, and alot of folders and files under android/data/ that were over 16 characters.
