Hello all,
I bought couple weeks ago my Samsung Continuum unlocked in a ebay store. The phone worked fine for me. My friend just bought the same phone from ATT. Now, he was looking on my to see what is the different and then he noticed me that I don't have a 3g connnection. I put my card in his phone and I had 3g. I have a plan from also from ATT.
So I'm not really a technic guy and I was not noticing that my 3g is not working.
So, I called the Samsung hotline but they couldn't help because thru the IMEI they found out that this is not an US Phone and they are only supporting US phones.
I send them again an email but this time they wrote me the same but also this phone is from India.
So, I went to the guy who I bought this phone from. He was asking me I didn't told him that in the first 7 days. And yes, its not an us phone. You need to configure this phone then the 3g works with your provider.
I asked him if he could help me with the configuration. His answer was only; " Ask google !"
Great
Can anybody help me with that?
I'm not getting 3g only the EDGE network.

Thanks

I suggest you compare the settings with your friends phone. It's in Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile networks.
Most important is the Access point names section.

Ok, today I tried the settings from my friend. Still no 3g connection. Any other ideas? Is there any hidden settings options for the phone?

Which Firmware are you on?

What settings did you tried from your friend's?

When you go to [Wireless and network] > [Mobile networks] > [Network mode], do you have this?.....

My Firmware is showing 2.1 update1
I don't have network mode but accesspoint, provider and something with 2g but it's not on.

I also noticed that I have now sometimes showing an "H" instead of the "E".
No idea what that means.

Your device is already on 3G...even better 3.5G.

"E" = EDGE = Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution is considered a 3G radio technology.

"H" = HSDPA or HSPA? = High-Speed Downlink Packet Access is an enhanced 3G mobile telephony communications protocol in the High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) family, also dubbed as 3.5G.
